Highlights from our Collection
We are looking to add your stories, memories and thoughts to our collections at East Lothian Museums. This section will therefore highlight some of our objects and images.

hi, i think the idea is really good,to share photos and everyone can ask individual questions, i like the idea of a 2 way conversation,, or 3 and 4 way conversations, blogging it,, i think they call it..
but sometimes it woudl be nice to have categories for questions, for those that do not know where to start perhaps,
perhaps, section on personel stories, love letters, going to war, coming back from war,, maybe find out experiences of those that did not survive, i know,, war graves is a big thing and lots of peoople want to trace family history through it, only thing is not everyone that fought in ww2,many of the laregst volunteers forces, are not buried,or have graves,as they believe in cremation, (HINDU, jains , Sikhs) ..
but i do like the idea, i think the site could be less ’static’ and maybe more movement to it, more colourful, brighter,
and it kinda needs something to navigate you around, maybe an icon, or a symbol to help know your here and there..
sometimes we cannot tell everything about a piture that we want to know, like who took the picture, or about every person in it. what camera was used, but it good to have stuff where people may be able to find out, encouarghing links to be developed with other sites, family societies, archives, etc…
be nice to have some film on it..

I think preserving the photographs and memories of people in East Lothian here is a wonderful idea.
Especially with VE Day coming up, the experiences of those who served in World War II - whether in the armed forces, the home guard, the land girls, etc. - should be preserved for future generations.
The photos that are already included on the site are a great way to understand the experiences of those on the home front in East Lothian during the war, and it would be good to see more photos, letters, and interviews.
